Kim Yongbeom, head of the Presidential Office's policy office, said that access to artificial intelligence (AI) should be regarded as a basic right, and unveiled a plan for an 'AI basic society' in which the state provides citizens with Koreanmade AI for free.
In a social media post on the 21st, Kim presented 'AI for Everyone' as a core policy, explaining that it would make it easier for people to use AI in their daily lives and that, as demand and data accumulate in the process, it could become the foundation for the growth of the domestic AI market.
He also mentioned an 'AI national secretary' that helps people find and apply for public services on their behalf as one of the key policies. Earlier, Science and ICT Minister Bae Kyunghoon had also announced plans to launch an AI service for the entire public.
