Chen Zhengqing Wins the Outstanding Contribution Award of Hunan Province Science and Technology

The Hunan Province Science and Technology Awards have been announced. The 2024–2025 Hunan Province Science and Technology Awards were announced in Changsha on July 27, with a total of 308 winning projects, teams, and individuals. Chen Zhengqing, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of the Research Center for Vibration and Shock Technology at Hunan University, received the Hunan Province Outstanding Contribution Award for Science and Technology. Chen Zhengqing, now 79, has long been engaged in the study of mechanics for largescale structural engineering and has achieved a number of results in structural nonlinear analysis, wind resistance theory, testing technology, and vibration reduction technology. He proposed a 3D largedeformation analysis theory and program for beambarcable structures, advancing the solution to the spatial nonlinear calculation problem of suspension bridges; at the same time, he has also made important contributions to research on windinduced bridge vibration and permanentmagnet eddycurrent damping vibration reduction technology. The report also mentioned that the related projects led by Chen Zhengqing won the First Prize of the 2023 National Technological Invention Award. He also holds multiple patents, papers, and publications, and led a relevant team at Hunan University to be selected as a “National Universities Huang Danianstyle Faculty Team.”
