Song Jae-kyung also develops a one-person game with AI... Changes in game production structure
How AI game development is changing production methods, Song Jae-kyung's new solo work revealed Take a look at personal studios and revenue structures, and see the key changes in the industry
Song Jaekyung, a Nexus advisor regarded as one of the firstgeneration game developers in Korea, has unveiled a new title he created entirely on his own using AI. This case shows that generative AI is changing the way games are made across the board, from coding and design to operations.
According to the article, some developers are using AI tools to handle work that used to be done by several people and are moving into smallscale or solo development. Cases of individual studios and solo development using AI are also emerging in countries such as Turkey, the Netherlands, and Japan.
However, the spread of AI does not immediately lead to commercial success. Although the share of new titles on Steam that disclose AI use is increasing, revenue remains concentrated among a small number of top games. There are also concerns in the industry that reduced hiring could weaken the path for new developers to gain experience.
