Tianfu International Seed Industry Expo Showcases Multiple Agricultural Scientific and Technological Achievements

On September 19, the 2026 Tianfu International Seed Industry Expo and the 6th Academician and Expert Lecture Series on “Storing Grain in Technology” opened at the Tianfu Modern Seed Industry Park in Qionglai, Chengdu. Units including the Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Institute of Urban Agriculture of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Sichuan Agricultural University jointly released innovative achievements in breeding, equipment, and horticultural seed industries, including cabbage suitable for hot pot cooking, loquat varieties that bloom in spring, and a robot for picking Sichuan peppercorns. Reports show that during the 14th FiveYear Plan period, the Horticulture Research Institute of the Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other units continuously accumulated germplasm resources and bred a batch of new crop varieties that meet market demand. The related achievements have been promoted and applied in fields such as fruit trees, vegetables, and flowers. Some varieties have become leading provincial agricultural varieties, and the supporting cultivation techniques have also been implemented on a wider scale. Experts at the event said that the key to moving scientific research achievements from the laboratory to the market lies in strengthening alignment with industry demand, improving transformation platforms, and protecting intellectual property. The Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences said it will further promote cooperation between science and enterprises, breakthroughs in biological breeding, and the development of supporting technical systems, so as to advance innovation in Sichuanbred seeds and industrial development, and help build a higherlevel “Tianfu granary.”
