On July 14, 2026, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met in Beijing with Solomon Islands Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Honiupuvila, and the two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and practical cooperation.
Wang Yi said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2019, ChinaSolomon Islands relations have developed smoothly, and cooperation has made progress in multiple areas. The Chinese side is willing to continue strengthening communication at all levels with the Solomon Islands side, advance highquality Belt and Road cooperation, and expand cooperation in green energy, education, healthcare, youth exchanges, and other areas.
Honiupuvila said that the Solomon Islands side attaches importance to relations with China, thanks China for its longterm support for the Solomon Islands' economic and social development, is willing to further expand trade, investment, and cooperation in multiple fields, and will continue to strengthen coordination in multilateral settings.
