Lee Jae-ryong Sent to Trial on Charges of Obstructing a Breathalyzer Test and Failing to Take Action After an Accident

The prosecution has sent actor Lee Jaeryong, who is accused of causing an accident in downtown Seoul and fleeing the scene, to trial. According to the legal community on the 5th, the Criminal Division 7 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office indicted Lee on charges of obstructing a breath test and failing to take action after an accident, both in violation of the Road Traffic Act. Police had initially also applied the charge of drunk driving and sent the case to prosecutors, but it is reported that the prosecution judged that the blood alcohol concentration at the time did not meet the standard for punishment. Lee is accused of crashing into a median barrier while driving near Cheongdam Station on Seoul Subway Line 7 on the night of March 6 and leaving the scene. After reports emerged that Lee had stopped by another drinking gathering afterward, suspicions of socalled 'alcohol tampering' were also raised, but it is known that the prosecution indicted him only on charges of obstructing a breath test and failing to take action after an accident.
