Hyundai Motor is considering introducing a fully salaried system

Hyundai Motor's fully salaried system: research project launched through labor-management agreement Quickly check the solutions for changes in the wage system and 대응 to automation

Hyundai Motor Company and the labor union have agreed to conduct a research project on the possibility of introducing a fully salaried pay system instead of the existing hourlywagebased compensation system. The company and the union plan to form a related task force (TF) during wage and collective bargaining negotiations to jointly review the wage systems of overseas automakers and outside advisory opinions. This discussion comes as concerns have grown that overtime and nightshift allowances could decrease due to expanded overseas production and reduced domestic production volume, and as the introduction of humanoid robots is being accelerated, raising the need to ease opposition to workplace automation. The union has long been demanding the introduction of a comprehensive salaried system, and the company also believes that increasing the proportion of fixed pay could help reduce conflict. However, disagreements between labor and management are expected over salary levels and detailed conditions, so additional consultations are likely needed before the system can actually be introduced.
