Pacao Fishing Port in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Welcomes More Than 300 Fishing Boats Sheltering from the Wind

As this year’s No. 13 typhoon, “White Dolphin,” approaches, the coastal areas of Wenzhou, Zhejiang have entered a tense state of typhoon and flood prevention. On August 5, the nationallevel central fishing port of Pacao Fishing Port began receiving more than 300 fishing boats from Pingyang and Cangnan to shelter from the wind.
At present, nearly 340 fishing boats from Cangnan and Pingyang have successfully entered the port and docked. Since the early morning of August 4, the local marine and fisheries law enforcement authorities have activated the typhoon emergency response plan, organizing personnel to carry out unified scheduling of the fishing boats entering the port, and continuously inspecting anchoring, spacing, and berthing conditions to ensure the safety of the vessels.
Because of its strong ability to withstand wind and waves, Pacao Fishing Port has become an important harbor for nearby fishing boats to seek shelter from danger. The site also adopted a mooring method in which multiple boats berth side by side and are connected by ropes, in order to enhance the overall wind resistance and reduce the impact of wind and waves brought by the typhoon.
