Prime Minister Kim Min-seok emphasizes the need for party reform, citing the local election results

Prime Minister Kim Minseok said in his keynote speech at the KBC 'New Honam Forum' held at the Kimdaejung Convention Center in Gwangju on the 6th that, in light of the results of the June 3 local elections, the party and the government must once again tighten up and innovate. Regarding the election results, Prime Minister Kim said there are assessments of both victory and inadequacy, and noted that it could be seen as the expectation for leadership centered on the president did not sufficiently carry over into the election. He then emphasized that it is time for the government and the ruling party, together with Honam, to reexamine the existing formula for victory. He described the core of the political current flowing from former President Kim Daejung to President Lee Jaemyung as the combination of growth and democracy, and the expansion of a practical approach to people’s livelihoods. He also said the tensions following this election should be used as an opportunity for innovation, and asked Honam to play a role so that the government and the ruling party can maintain the same direction.
