Beijing builds a satellite town to promote the development of a commercial aerospace industry cluster

The Beijing Satellite Town will open by the end of this year. It will be organized around functions such as the planned pilot zone, core area, and public testing platform, with supporting incubator centers to lower the entry threshold for startups and promote nearby collaboration among enterprises in R&D, final assembly, testing, and application. Reports show that Beijing's commercial aerospace sector has formed a pattern of "South Rockets, North Satellites," in which "South Rockets" are mainly concentrated in the Beijing EconomicTechnological Development Area, Fengtai District, and Daxing District, with a relatively complete rocket development chain; "North Satellites" are centered on Haidian District, which has strong wholesatellite development capabilities. Haidian has said that the number of locally operated commercial satellites in orbit has exceeded 100, and it will continue to improve support for space, funding, and talent by relying on industrial parks and funds.
