China expresses willingness to work with the international community to safeguard and strengthen the United Nations

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at the regular press conference on June 26 that China is ready to work with the international community to uphold, revitalize, and strengthen the United Nations. Guo Jiakun said that the UN Charter established the international system centered on the United Nations and the basic norms of international relations, and is an important foundation of the postwar international order. China believes that the root cause of some of the current global disorder does not lie in the supposed obsolescence of the spirit of the Charter, but in the fact that its relevant purposes and principles have not been fully observed. He also mentioned that in May this year, when China held the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council, Foreign Minister Wang Yi chaired a highlevel meeting in New York themed "Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter, and Strengthening the International System Centered on the United Nations," with representatives from nearly 110 countries attending. China said it will take the UN Charter Day as an opportunity to continue promoting a more just and reasonable global governance system.
