Namibian President’s Visit to China Boosts Economic and Trade Cooperation

President Netumbo NandiNdaitwah of the Republic of Namibia arrived in Guangzhou on July 5, beginning a oneweek state visit to China. This is her first visit to China since taking office as president, and it has also drawn widespread attention from Namibian media. According to Namibian sources, the visit will focus on trade and investment, industrialization and valueadded processing of minerals, renewable energy and green hydrogen, agricultural processing, education, science and technology, peopletopeople exchanges, as well as health, housing, and infrastructure. Namibian media believe this will help deepen cooperation between the two countries under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and advance relevant commitments of the Forum on ChinaAfrica Cooperation. The report also noted that Namibia hopes to find cooperation opportunities better aligned with its own development needs by visiting China's manufacturing plants, innovation centers, and industrial enterprises. As business matchmaking, product showcases, and exchange activities continue to roll out, commercial ties between the two countries are expected to strengthen further. At present, China remains an important trading partner of Namibia, and the two sides already have a substantial foundation of cooperation in mining, manufacturing, infrastructure, and renewable energy.
