"Ecological Civilization Academic Week 2026" Opens in Beijing

Recently, the series of academic events for "Ecological Civilization Academic Week 2026" opened in Beijing, with the opening ceremony and the 2026 Academic Annual Conference on Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization held simultaneously. The event was hosted by the Institute of Ecological Civilization Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Li Xuesong, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that related research should adhere to the integration of theory and practice, and better serve the construction of ecological civilization and the green transformation of the economy and society. Lü Zhongmei, Vice Chairwoman of the Environmental and Resource Protection Committee of the National People's Congress, introduced the development of China's ecological and environmental rule of law, and proposed strengthening research on the Ecological Environment Code from a multidisciplinary perspective to provide theoretical support for its implementation. Zhang Yongsheng, Director of the Institute of Ecological Civilization Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, pointed out that although global research on ecological civilization has made progress in recent years, it still falls short of realworld needs, and the building of an independent knowledge system for China's ecological civilization still requires continued breakthroughs in basic theory and frontier theory. This academic week will run until June 6, with discussions on topics such as territorial spatial planning and highquality marine development, urban development, and global climate governance, as well as youth scholar salons and science outreach activities for teenagers.
