Democratic Party convention clash, key points of the election commission issue amid the Jeong Cheong-rae and Kim Min-seok conflict Quickly check the reported issues and the primary race outlook, and take a look at where the intra-party conflict is headed
As the Democratic Party of Korea's 8·17 national convention approaches, the war of words between lawmakers Jung Chungrae and Kim Minseok is intensifying. As the results of the first regional primary came out as a close race, the camps of the two candidates have either reported or raised issues with the party election commission, claiming that the other side's campaigning was improper.
Lawmakers in Jung Chungrae's camp requested action from the party election commission, saying that some lawmakers supporting Kim Minseok had hung banners with specific phrases. Jung also argued that, regarding sanctions issued over events related to him, the election commission should make a fair judgment.
Kim Minseok's camp pushed back, saying this was an attempt to divide party members and lawmakers. They also reported to the party election commission that the 'birthday voting strategy' mentioned at an event attended by Jung and the proJung Chungrae faction constituted prohibited campaigning. The election commission is scheduled to discuss the related reports on the 4th.
