Military and UNC Prepare for On-Site Investigation of Suspected DMZ Mine Explosion

Suspected DMZ mine explosion accident: military and UNC on-site investigation preparation complete Safety of movement routes and operational conditions were checked to improve the reliability of the investigation

The military and the United Nations Command carried out preparatory work ahead of a field investigation into a suspected landmine explosion that occurred in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on the western front. The Joint Chiefs of Staff said on the 26th that it had conducted a joint inspection of access routes within the DMZ and checked the operational environment. More than 20 people participated in this inspection, including the JCS joint onsite investigation task force (TF), officials from the UN Command Military Armistice Commission, personnel from the investigative agency, and operational troops. They reportedly checked the safety of the movement route, surveillance system, and communications status. The JCS explained that some service members who had participated in the routeopening search operation at the time of the accident also voluntarily joined the preparation for the investigation. This measure is intended to confirm an environment in which safe movement and investigation are possible ahead of the actual field investigation.
