Film ‘Hope’ sets a record for the highest price for a Korean film through overseas pre-sales after Cannes

Director Na Hongjin's new film 'Hope' has drawn major attention overseas following its screening at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, and has been presold to more than 200 countries and territories worldwide at the highest price ever for a Korean film. According to distributor Plus M Entertainment, the deal is said to have allowed 'Hope' to recoup roughly half of its net production cost through overseas presales alone. In Englishspeaking markets, including North America, NEON has taken on the film, and contracts have also been signed with major distributors in various regions, including Europe and Asia. 'Hope' tells the story that unfolds after Beomseok, the branch manager at Hopo Port near the DMZ, hears that a tiger has appeared in the village. It stars Hwang Jungmin, Jo Insung, Jung Hoyeon, Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender.
