Yang Shuhai, former chairman of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of the Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress, expelled from the Communist Party and removed from public office

According to news from the Chongqing Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, Yang Shuhai, former director and committee member of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of the Chongqing Municipal People's Congress, has been placed on file for review and investigation and has been punished for serious violations of discipline and law. The notice said that Yang Shuhai engaged in superstitious activities, improperly accepted banquets and received gifts and cash, failed to truthfully explain issues during organizational inquiries, and improperly held shares in a nonlisted company, among other misconduct. He was also accused of blindly launching projects, engaging in "image projects" and "political achievement projects," and improperly intervening in the contracting and subcontracting of engineering projects. In addition, the notice pointed out that Yang Shuhai used his position to seek benefits for others in areas such as engineering contracting and medical equipment sales, and illegally accepted huge sums of property, suspected of bribery crimes. In accordance with relevant Party discipline and government regulations, the Chongqing Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision decided to expel him from the Party and dismiss him from public office, and transfer the suspected criminal matters to the procuratorate for review and prosecution in accordance with the law.
