Large supermarkets expand ultra-low-priced PB products amid rising prices

Large supermarket PB products ease the burden of rising prices with ultra-low prices in the 1,000-won range Check out the expansion of PB products targeting one- to two-person households and the trend of increasing sales

As prices have risen since the Middle East crisis, major supermarkets are increasing their ownbrand (PB) products priced below 1,000 won. This is seen as a strategy to reduce the burden on consumers' shopping baskets while also targeting demand from one to twoperson households. According to the retail industry on the 10th, Lotte Mart had expanded the number of PB products priced at 1,000 won or less to 90 as of June this year. It has broadened its ultralowpriced product lineup to include not only fresh foods, beverages, and snacks, but also household goods, and related sales from January this year through the 8th of this month rose 18.3% from the same period last year. EMart is selling products in the 1,000won range under its packaged fresh food PB brand, and Homeplus is also strengthening lowpriced products by holding discount events for its PB brand. The industry explained that, despite growing cost burdens, it is focusing on maintaining quality while reducing price pressure.
