On June 8, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Natural Resources released data showing that, according to the preliminary accounting by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Guangdong's marine gross product reached 2.04 trillion yuan in 2025, up 4.4% year on year, accounting for 18.6% of the country's total marine gross product and ranking first nationwide for 31 consecutive years.
In terms of structure, the three sectors of Guangdong's marine economy continued to improve, with the tertiary industry making up the largest share. In 2025, Guangdong's 15 major marine industries achieved added value of 830.38 billion yuan, among which seawater desalination and comprehensive utilization, marine transportation, and marine tourism all ranked first nationwide in scale.
The report also noted that Guangdong has formed multiple industrial clusters, including marine oil and gas chemicals, marine fisheries, offshore wind power, marine engineering equipment, and marine tourism. The marine economy has played a certain role in driving local economic growth, reflecting a steady and progressive development trend.
