The Meizhou Mazu divided spirit ceremony witnessed Mazu culture entering Ethiopia Promoting broader overseas dissemination and focusing on new developments in cultural and disaster-reduction applications

On October 3, the Meizhou Mazu division ceremony was held at the Meizhou Mazu Ancestral Temple in Putian, Fujian. Ethiopia has thus become the 52nd country and region where Meizhou Mazu has been divided, further expanding the overseas reach of Mazu culture. At the ceremony, Lin Jinzan, chairman of the board of the Meizhou Mazu Ancestral Temple, accompanied overseas Chinese in Ethiopia Wang Penghui and others in completing the Three Offerings ceremony, and presided over the incensecutting and firescooping ritual, before presenting the division certificate to them. Wang Penghui said that he has long been in contact with Mazu culture. After this division, he hopes to promote the construction of a Mazu temple and hold related activities in Ethiopia in the future, so that this culture can continue to be passed on locally. The report also noted that China's smart meteorological earlywarning solution, "Mazu," has already been implemented in Ethiopia, reflecting the extension of this cultural symbol into the field of disaster reduction.
