Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jungkwan said at the Cabinet meeting on the 2nd that it may soon be possible to designate a “super nice gas station.” The target is Topyeong Gas Station in Seogwipo, Jeju, which has been selected four times so far as a “nice gas station.” The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has been selecting gas stations that have contributed to stabilizing petroleum product prices as “nice gas stations” together with civic groups, and once they are selected five times, they become a “super nice gas station.” Minister Kim explained that there is a possibility that Topyeong Gas Station will be selected again as early as this weekend. President Lee Jaemyung listened to the explanation and smiled when the name was mentioned, while urging that support and compensation be handled well. Minister Kim said that the 367 gas stations selected so far have helped stabilize prices by selling at an average of at least 15 won per liter cheaper. The government also said it plans to soon announce a notice regarding the petroleum price ceiling system that includes the principles and standards for compensating refiners for losses.
