Inheritance of the Long March spirit: Yudu's red memories are being revitalized, and the old revolutionary base area is accelerating rural revitalization See how guided explanations, choruses, cultural relics, and culture-tourism are energizing new development in the old base area
This year marks the 90th anniversary of the Red Army’s victory in the Long March. Xinhua has launched “Facing the General Secretary · Long March Special,” revisiting the starting points of the Long March such as Yudu in Jiangxi along the path once inspected by General Secretary Xi Jinping, and documenting the new changes in the preservation of revolutionary heritage and rural development in old revolutionary base areas.
The report reviews the scene from General Secretary Xi Jinping’s 2019 inspection in Yudu, when he stressed “carry forward the past and set out again with renewed resolve,” and also tells how local interpreters, descendants of the Red Army, choir members, and villagers have inherited the spirit of the Long March by telling stories, singing choral suites, and giving educational presentations. Cultural relics in the memorial hall, the stage play Farewell, and the Long March Source Choir’s charity tour have become important carriers for sustaining local revolutionary memory.
The article also notes that Tantou Village in Zishan Town, Yudu, has achieved development by relying on seleniumrich agriculture and rural tourism, with residents’ incomes and the village collective economy increasing significantly. Through this, the author shows that while inheriting the spirit of the Long March, old revolutionary base areas are turning red resources into momentum for advancing rural revitalization and improving people’s livelihoods.
