He Lifeng, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, met with visiting Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot at the Great Hall of the People on the afternoon of April 30.
He Lifeng said that since China and Belgium established diplomatic relations 55 years ago, the two sides have formed a mutually beneficial and winwin cooperative relationship, and in recent years pragmatic cooperation in such fields as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, finance, logistics, and others has made positive progress. He noted that China and Belgium are both supporters of multilateralism and an open world economy, and should continue to consolidate the foundation for cooperation and promote the further positive development of ChinaBelgium relations as well as ChinaEU relations.
Prévot said that the Belgian side is willing to take the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to continue advancing bilateral relations, strengthen cooperation in such areas as trade and the economy, and jointly safeguard multilateralism and free trade.
