The National Textbook Work Conference was held in Beijing on September 8, attended and addressed by Ding Xuexiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council.
Ding Xuexiang said that textbooks concern the implementation of the educational policy and the direction of fostering talent. We must uphold the Party's overall leadership over textbook work, focus on the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and nurturing people, better integrate the Party's innovative theories into course materials and textbooks, and continuously improve the quality of textbook development.
He also pointed out that it is necessary to adapt to the needs of educational development, coordinate the advancement of textbook development for basic education, vocational education, and higher education, improve the management of compilation, review, and publication, the norms for selection and use, as well as policy and legal safeguards, and promote continuous new progress in textbook work.
