Ding Xuexiang Attends the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Three Gorges New Waterway Project

On the morning of June 8, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Three Gorges Waterway New Channel Project was held in Yichang, Hubei Province. Ding Xuexiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the ceremony and announced the official launch of the project. At the ceremony, representatives from the project owner, China Three Gorges Corporation, and relevant officials from Hubei Province delivered speeches respectively. At 10:12 a.m. that day, as Ding Xuexiang announced the start of construction, the project officially entered the construction phase. The Three Gorges Waterway New Channel Project integrates functions related to water conservancy, shipping, and ecology, and is regarded as an important comprehensive project on the Yangtze River main waterway after the Three Gorges Project. Once completed, the Three Gorges Hub and the Gezhouba Hub will form a fourlockship lock system, helping to enhance the navigational capacity of the Yangtze River Golden Waterway and provide support for the highquality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
