"Focus Interview" has launched a series titled "Treading the New Long March Road," focusing on how grassroots Party organizations and Party members are playing a leading role in the new journey. Through two cases—oil and gas exploration in the southwestern part of the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang and the "intervillage joint construction" model in Weifang, Shandong, which promotes rural revitalization—the program shows the responsibility of Party cadres on the front line of difficult challenges and in grassroots governance.
In Xinjiang, Liang Quansheng, secretary of the Party branch of the Xinjiang Command of Yanchang Petroleum Group, led his team deep into an uninhabited desert area to carry out surveys and research. After more than two years of preparation, they advanced a highly difficult oil and gas exploration task, aiming to find resources in deeper strata and serve national energy security. Party members in the team charged ahead, bringing young technical staff together to tackle the key problems.
In Weifang, Shandong, relying on the Partybuildingled "intervillage joint construction" model, local authorities integrated the resources of scattered villages, coordinated issues involving land, roads, and industry, and promoted projects such as tropical plant plantations to create jobs and increase residents' incomes. The report shows that this model has been promoted in many local villages and has made progress in industrial development, grassroots governance, and raising people's incomes.
