Kim Yongbeom, Chief Policy Secretary at the Blue House, outlined the government’s position on real estate measures and the location of the semiconductor industry at the Kwanhun Club debate held on the 24th at the Korea Press Center in Junggu, Seoul.
Secretary Kim said that supply is the most important issue in housing, and added that the government would consider ways to build more homes by finding available sites such as public land and closed schools. He explained that the central government and Seoul City need to discuss the matter together and that it is necessary to coordinate various interests.
Regarding semiconductor clusters, he said that land, power, and water conditions in the Seoul metropolitan area have reached their limits, and disclosed that the government is discussing ways to create new clusters in regional areas such as the Honam region. He also added that it is reviewing the industrial base and growth engines for the AI era, as well as reforms to the real estate tax system.
