The General Office of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection Reports Five Typical Cases of Distorted Views on Performance

On June 15, the General Office of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection publicly reported five typical cases of distorted views on political performance, involving relevant officials and enterprise leaders in Hebei, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Guangxi, and Inner Mongolia, among other places. The notice shows that these cases mainly exposed problems such as abuse of power at will, blind investment promotion, illegal borrowing, engaging in "image projects," and carrying out financing trade in violation of regulations. The notice pointed out that some people, when pushing projects forward, acted in disregard of actual conditions and rushed to launch them without full evaluation, resulting in unfinished projects, wasted funds, and harm to the interests of the people; others placed shortterm economic indicators above ecological protection, introduced highly polluting enterprises, and loosened supervision; still others, in pursuit of "visible achievements," promoted project construction beyond the financial capacity of local governments, increasing local debt risks. The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission stated that these cases are all typical manifestations of a distorted view of political performance, reflecting that a small number of officials ignore reality, the laws governing things, and longterm considerations in decisionmaking. Discipline inspection and supervision organs will continue to strengthen supervision, discipline enforcement, and law enforcement, keep a close watch on prominent problems such as illegal investment promotion, fraud and deception, and disregard for the interests of the people, and promote cadres at all levels to establish a correct view of political performance and truly win the trust of the people through practical work and tangible results.
