From May 7 to 9, the 2026 Beijing Xiangshan Forum Kickoff Meeting was held in Beijing, with more than 120 defense officials and experts and scholars from 43 countries and international organizations in attendance. A welcome banquet was also arranged for the evening of the event.
This kickoff meeting centered on "Global Security Governance: Challenges and Ways Forward" and covered topics including the international order and the rule of law in international affairs, new security challenges in the AsiaPacific, responsibilities for safeguarding global common security, and risk control in the military application of emerging technologies.
In addition, the kickoff meeting also arranged a special thematic exchange event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Beijing Xiangshan Forum, under the theme "The Role of International Forums in Global Security Governance."
