Ambassador Kang Kyung-wha to the U.S. to Temporarily Return Home from the 15th for Korea-U.S. Consultations on Pending Issues

South Korean Ambassador to the United States Kang Kyungwha will briefly visit Korea from the 15th to the 19th under the instructions of Foreign Minister Cho Hyun. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it plans to hold consultations with relevant ministries on overall KoreaU.S. relations.
Ambassador Kang is expected to meet with the National Security Office, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Ministry of Science and ICT to discuss current issues related to KoreaU.S. security, technology, and trade. U.S. concerns over the Coupang personal information leak incident and the revision of the Information and Communications Network Act may also be included in the consultations.
In addition, major KoreaU.S. security agenda items are also expected to be addressed, including South Korea's investment projects in the United States, domestic construction of U.S. warships, and the introduction of nuclearpowered submarines. This will be Ambassador Kang's second return to Korea since taking office last October, and it is being viewed as unusual because it is taking place without an official ambassadors' meeting.
