Guangxi builds an efficient judicial service system to ensure the construction of the Pinglu Canal

On July 30, the Higher People's Court of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region announced that, to provide services and safeguards for the construction of the Pinglu Canal, Guangxi courts have introduced 12 safeguard measures and established a coordinated mechanism for ecological and environmental protection, using judicial power to support development along the canal and safeguard the rights and interests of the people. The Pinglu Canal is an important backbone project of the New Western LandSea Corridor, with a total length of 134.2 kilometers. Due to its large scale and broad scope, various disputes are likely to arise during construction. Courts in many parts of Guangxi have therefore moved judicial services to the project site, promoting nearby acceptance and onsite resolution of conflicts. In specific practice, courts in Qinzhou, Lingshan, and Hengzhou have handled disputes related to the canal through circuit tribunals, prelitigation mediation, and a onestop diversified dispute resolution mechanism, and have also heard cases involving theft of diesel fuel and contract disputes arising during project construction in accordance with the law. The courts said that in the next step they will continue to focus on their adjudicatory function and create a favorable ruleoflaw environment for the construction of the Pinglu Canal.
