Prime Minister orders rescue efforts in Hanwha Aerospace explosion accident

Prime Minister Kim Minseok instructed relevant agencies on the 1st to devote allout efforts to extinguishing the fire and rescuing lives in connection with the explosion accident that occurred at the Hanwha Aerospace Daejeon plant in Yuseonggu, Daejeon.
According to the Prime Minister's Office, Prime Minister Kim ordered the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the National Fire Agency, the National Police Agency, and Daejeon City to deploy all available equipment and personnel to prevent further damage and to cooperate so that rescue operations at the scene can proceed smoothly.
He also urged them to check available beds at nearby medical institutions, swiftly transport the injured, and thoroughly ensure the safety of firefighters responding at the scene. The accident is believed to have occurred at around 10:59 a.m. during a propellant test process, and so far 5 people have been reported dead and 2 seriously injured.
