Ahead of the June 3 byelection for the Busan Bukgap National Assembly seat, the candidates have been recruiting veteran local politicians one after another to expand their support.
Democratic Party candidate Ha Jeongwoo appointed former lawmaker Kim Youngchun as honorary chair of his campaign headquarters, People Power Party candidate Park Minsik appointed former Bukgu District Mayor Kim Jaegwan, and independent candidate Han Donghoon, former People Power Party leader, appointed former lawmaker Jeong Hyeonggeun as the head of his supporters' association.
Candidate Park introduced former District Mayor Jeong as a local figure who knows Bukgu well, and candidate Ha welcomed former lawmaker Kim's joining. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party criticized former lawmaker Jeong Hyeonggeun over his past career, and the backandforth continued.
