Defense Minister nominee Kang Shin-cheol reports assets of 1.12762 billion won

Defence Minister nominee Kang Shincheol reported assets totaling 1.12762 billion won, including real estate, deposits, and vehicles in his own name and that of his family. According to the nomination hearing request submitted to the National Assembly, nominee Kang himself reported 1.01355 billion won, reflecting an apartment in Umyeondong, Seochogu, Seoul, deposits, a car, and financial liabilities. His spouse reported 27.3 million won, including a vehicle and deposits; his eldest son reported 71.99 million won, combining deposits and securities; and his eldest daughter separately reported 14.76 million won, including a leasehold right to a residence in Germany and deposits. Kang's eldest son is said to have completed his military service as an Army lieutenant and been discharged at the end of his term. President Lee Jaemyung explained that the nominee is a person with experience in the defense field and expertise in military strategy and defense policy.
