Shin Min-jun is one win away from a second straight LG Cup title

Shin Minjun, 9dan, defeated China's Wang Xinghao, 9dan, in Game 1 of the LG Cup Chosun Ilbo Kiwangjeon final, raising the chances of winning the tournament two years in a row.
In the first game of the bestofthree final of the 31st LG Cup held on the 14th at Wangjimil in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, Shin Minjun secured a halfpoint win as Black after 308 moves. Although he got off to a disadvantage in the opening, he regained control after the midgame and finished the match in the endgame.
If Shin Minjun also wins Game 2, to be held on the 15th, he will set the first consecutive championship record in LG Cup history. The LG Cup has produced multiple repeat winners over the years, but it is known as a tournament that has never had a backtoback champion.
