Promoting ‘K-Physical AI’ to Reduce Dependence on NVIDIA

Supporting the localization of Physical AI, the government will invest 34 billion KRW over two years to foster an independent ecosystem. Improve robot performance with world model- and simulation-based technologies and check it out now.

The Ministry of Science and ICT will invest 34 billion won over two years to support the localization of core physical artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. On the 9th, the government held a related kickoff briefing at LG Science Park in Magok, Seoul, and announced its policy to build an independent domestic AI ecosystem. Physical AI refers to AI that moves and operates in the real world, and it can be used in various fields such as defense, manufacturing, agriculture, and services. The key to this project is to reduce dependence on overseas technologies by strengthening world model and simulationbased technologies. The government will work with 10 industryacademiaresearch partners, including LG Electronics, MindAI, Robotis, KT, KAIST, and Seoul National University, to develop a domestically produced physical AI foundation model. The goal is also to significantly improve the final task success rate of robots by enhancing simulation performance. The Ministry of Science and ICT explained that, in response to the global AI infrastructure structure centered on Nvidia, it will pursue securing independent technologies and strengthening 'sovereign AI' together.
