President Lee Jaemyung presided over a national public forum on real estate policy at KBS in Yeouido, Seoul on the 23rd. About 140 people, including representatives from the government and academia, the media, YouTubers, licensed real estate agents, and civic groups, attended to discuss current real estate issues such as supply, finance, and taxation.
The discussion went far beyond the originally scheduled 1 hour and 40 minutes, continuing for 3 hours and 13 minutes. Before the discussion began, President Lee emphasized the importance of factbased debate, and even during the proceedings he repeatedly checked the factual accuracy of remarks being made.
There was some confusion at the venue as many people wanted to speak, but the participants put forward a range of policy proposals, including identifying new housing sites, expanding public rental housing, and speeding up supply. President Lee led the discussion by directly calling on attendees for their views and exchanging questions and answers with them.
