Wang Yi Attends Reception Marking the 25th Anniversary of the SCO's Founding

On June 15, 2026, Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended and delivered a speech at the reception marking the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Beijing. Wang Yi said that over the past 25 years since the SCO was founded, member states have, through solidarity and cooperation and mutual learning, forged the "Shanghai Spirit" centered on mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for diversity of civilizations, and pursuit of common development, and have also explored a new model of regional cooperation. He pointed out that, against the backdrop of a complex and changing international situation, the SCO should continue to promote the "Shanghai Spirit," improve global governance, safeguard peace and security, advance cooperation in such areas as trade, investment, connectivity, scientific and technological innovation, green industries, and the digital economy, and strengthen peopletopeople exchanges and dialogue among civilizations. Wang Yi also said that the Tianjin Summit has drawn a blueprint for the SCO's development over the next 10 years, and this year's Bishkek Summit is expected to further build consensus and promote regional countries to work hand in hand toward more stable and sustainable development.
