President Lee Jaemyung revealed a vision at the AI Summit held in San Francisco, USA, to make Korea a leading country in the era of artificial intelligence. He emphasized that Korea should not be merely a follower, but should become a key country in the AI supply chain and a global hub.
The event was attended by executives from major big tech companies such as Nvidia, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Broadcom, as well as representatives from domestic companies including Samsung Electronics, SK, Hyundai Motor, and Naver. The president stated that, based on Korea's competitiveness in memory semiconductors and its production capacity, it would become a trusted AI semiconductor production base and supply chain partner.
The presidential office explained that, through this summit, semiconductor cooperation worth a total of $950 billion between Korean and U.S. companies is being pursued. As Samsung Electronics and Broadcom, and SK and Nvidia, among others, agreed to cooperate on memory semiconductor supply and AI semiconductor production, it is being assessed that the declaration has led to actual investment and technological cooperation.
