The number of cross-regional trips exceeded 290 million, with transportation保障 in rainy weather continuously being stepped up Railways, highways, and waterways work in coordination to safeguard travel, making mid-holiday trips safer and smoother
According to the Ministry of Transport, the national crossregional passenger flow on May 3 is expected to exceed 290 million trips, up 2.5% year on year, with demand for family visits, tourism, and leisure travel remaining active. From April 30 to May 2, the number of passengers transported on the national railway each day exceeded 19 million for three consecutive days.
At the midpoint of the holiday, some areas in the south saw relatively heavy rainfall on May 3. The transport authorities and meteorological departments strengthened coordination, tracked changes in rainfall in real time, and dynamically adjusted train operation plans according to conditions to ensure safe travel in rainy weather and smooth line operations.
On the highways, shortdistance travel remained the main feature of the day, and traffic on expressways around tourist cities and popular scenic spots was heavy. The transport authorities predeployed personnel in sections prone to congestion and increased the number of rescue points in an effort to improve the efficiency of the road network. Waterway passenger transport also saw a slight increase as temperatures rose, and sightseeing routes with larger passenger volumes strengthened onboard supervision to enhance the safety of tourists' travel.
