Public Security Authorities Nationwide Intensify Crackdown on Online Rumors About the College Entrance Examination

Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, June 8 — During the 2026 college entrance examination period, public security authorities nationwide are stepping up their crackdown on illegal and criminal activity related to the exams as well as on online rumors, to safeguard exam order and social stability. On that day, the Cyber Security Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security announced 10 typical cases of online rumors related to the college entrance examination, reminding the public to be wary of behavior that exploits examrelated hot topics to gain traffic. The notice said that some people used AI tools to fabricate images of examination rooms, make up test paper content, or falsely claim to sell “internal resources” such as “college entrance examination answers,” spreading false information on online platforms, misleading the public and disrupting the exam environment. Relevant conduct has been dealt with by local public security authorities in accordance with the law. The public security authorities reminded the public that cyberspace is not beyond the law, and that fabricating and spreading rumors related to exams will entail legal responsibility. Police urge internet users to remain rational, not to create, believe, or spread rumors, and to jointly maintain a fair and quiet exam environment.
