On July 24, the Ministry of Emergency Management initiated a Level IV national geological disaster emergency response for Guangdong and Fujian. Meteorological authorities forecast that, affected by Typhoon No. 12 "Hongxia," heavy rainfall will hit eastern Guangdong and southern Fujian from July 25 to 27, with relatively large cumulative rainfall in some local areas, raising the risk of geological disasters in the relevant regions.
The Ministry of Emergency Management said it has jointly conducted consultation and risk assessment with the Ministry of Natural Resources, and has required the affected regions to strictly implement disaster prevention responsibilities, strengthen interdepartmental coordination, rainfall and flood monitoring, consultation and assessment, and warning response, preposition rescue forces, supplies, and equipment in advance, while also enhancing inspections, investigations, monitoring, and early warning, and promptly organizing the evacuation of residents to safer areas to minimize casualties.
