President Lee Jaemyung marked Children’s Day by inviting around 200 children and family members to the Blue House with First Lady Kim Hyekyung to hold a commemorative event. This event was the first Children’s Day since the launch of the Lee Jaemyung administration, and the first children’s invitation event held after returning to the Blue House. The event was attended by children from care facilities, singleparent and multicultural families, children with disabilities and rare diseases, children from populationdeclining regions, and children of bereaved families from the Osong disaster. President Lee said he would respect children not as objects of protection, but as individuals with dignity and personhood. He also presided over a “Children’s Cabinet meeting” in the Sejong Room of the Blue House with children appointed as oneday Cabinet members. He answered the children’s questions and explained how the president is elected, how state affairs are run, and the meaning of responsibility. Experience programs and an autograph session were also held at Nokjiwon.
