According to a report by Microsoft (MS) AI Economy Institute, in June, 40.6% of South Korea's workingage population aged 15 to 64 used generative artificial intelligence. This is 3.5 percentage points higher than in the first quarter.
In this survey, South Korea's global ranking rose from 16th to 12th, and the share of users over the past year increased by about 15 percentage points. The report explained that South Korea's digital infrastructure and the spread of generative AI into everyday services contributed to the increase in usage.
The global average usage rate of generative AI was 18.8%, with the United Arab Emirates ranking highest at 73.3%. Singapore and Ireland followed.
