The Ministry of SMEs and Startups has launched cooperation with major venture capital firms in Silicon Valley, USA, to support investment attraction and overseas expansion for Korean startups.
On the 25th (local time), the Ministry of SMEs and Startups held the “Silicon Valley Venture Investment Meetup” in San Francisco, USA, presided over by President Lee Jaemyung, and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on investment cooperation between the National Pension Service and six global VCs. Major VCs, including Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Capital, and General Catalyst, attended the event.
Participants discussed ways to cooperate in the KoreaU.S. venture investment ecosystem and investment trends in promising sectors such as AI, robotics, and biopharmaceuticals. The VCs showed interest in Korea’s technical workforce and manufacturing capabilities, and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups said it would continue supporting the connection of domestic startups to global investment.
