South Chungcheong Province switches to participating in the government competition for the Cheonan-Asan domed stadium
Cheonan-Asan domed stadium in South Chungcheong will switch to a government competition and enter the race to attract the project See the key strategy to lower the financial burden and improve project stability
South Chungcheong Province has decided to change the plan for building the large dome stadium it has been pursuing in the CheonanAsan area from a private investmentfocused approach to participation in a governmentfunded project competition.
The province plans to participate in the sports and performance complex dome stadium project competition being promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and to seek to attract a site near Cheonan Asan Station. Previously, it had been considering a plan to build a multipurpose dome stadium with more than 50,000 seats on a site of about 200,000 square meters around KTX Cheonan Asan Station, at a cost of about 1 trillion won, as a private investment project.
The province has continued to envision a complex facility that can host professional baseball and soccer games, Kpop performances, largescale exhibitions, and more, and had also proposed a completion target of 2031. However, as the government is promoting the related facility as a publicfunded project, South Chungcheong Province has shifted its strategy to respond to the competition in order to reduce its financial burden and improve project stability. It plans to enter the competition by highlighting the area near Cheonan Asan Station, which offers good transportation accessibility.
