Changchun Releases the Top Ten Fundamental Scientific Questions in the Field of Atomic-Level Manufacturing
The top ten fundamental scientific questions in the field of atomic-level manufacturing have been released, focusing on the frontiers of chips and high-end manufacturing Providing directional guidance for systematic planning and helping drive innovative development in AI chips and quantum devices
On June 13, the 2026 AtomLevel Manufacturing Innovation and Development Conference opened in Changchun, Jilin, and officially released the "Top Ten Fundamental Scientific Questions in the Field of AtomLevel Manufacturing." This achievement aims to provide directional guidance for the systematic development and frontier布局 of China's atomlevel manufacturing technology system.
The conference was cohosted by the AtomLevel Manufacturing Innovation and Development Alliance, the Jilin Provincial Industrial Technology Research Institute, and the Comprehensive Technology and Economic Research Institute for Instruments and Meters of the Ministry of Machinery Industry. The relevant questions were formed after industry solicitation and review by the Expert Advisory Committee, covering key directions such as atomlevel subtractive manufacturing, consistent manufacturing of complex materials, batch creation of artificial molecules, threedimensional atomiclayer construction, chip bonding and interconnection, and insitu testing.
The report pointed out that many of the questions are closely related to highend manufacturing and the chip industry. For example, atomlevel consistent manufacturing of complex materials can help improve the processing stability of semiconductors, advanced ceramics, and heterogeneous integration materials; while reliable atomic bonding connections in threedimensional integrated chips and precise atomiclayer threedimensional construction are considered to play a supporting role in the development of highperformance AI chips, quantum devices, and advanced microelectronics.
