The Ministry of National Defense has sent a local inspection team to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to assess the situation in the Middle East region. The government explained that this survey is intended to understand the regional situation and security conditions.
On the 8th, the Ministry of National Defense denied reports by some media outlets regarding the deadline for the deployment of South Korean troops, saying they were not true. It also stated that nothing has yet been decided regarding the deployment, and that sending this inspection team does not mean an actual deployment is being assumed.
However, the inspection team is reported to be examining the operational environment and available military bases and port calls on site. It is also known that within the military, noncombat and indirect support methods are being reviewed in preparation for a possible future deployment.
