According to a Xinhua News Agency reporter in Beijing on September 25, during his state visit to the United States, Xi Jinping announced that over the next five years, the Chinese side will invite 100,000 American teenagers to come to China for exchanges and study. This move is a further expansion based on the earlier initiative of "50,000 American teenagers to come to China in 5 years."
The article points out that the previous initiative was completed ahead of schedule in just over two years, with more than 50,000 American teenagers coming to China, visiting multiple places and taking part in cultural experiences. Experts interviewed believe that youth exchanges help deepen mutual understanding and inject a more stable human foundation into ChinaU.S. relations.
The report also mentions that peopletopeople exchanges between China and the United States have a long history, from cooperation during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, to pingpong diplomacy, to cultural and educational exchanges in recent years, all of which are regarded as important components of the friendly relations between the two countries. Experts said that allowing more American teenagers to visit China in person is expected to further expand peopletopeople interaction and mutual understanding between the two countries.
