Elevators, dispatch and maintenance enhanced with AI

We are improving dispatch efficiency and maintenance with AI elevator technology. See quickly how the industry is changing amid competition in fleet management, IoT, and modular construction methods.

The elevator industry is using artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to improve dispatch efficiency and maintenance levels. According to a report by Kyunghyang Shinmun on the 25th, Hyundai Elevator, Otis, and TK are continuing to compete in related technologies. The most notable technology is the ‘AI group control system,’ which bundles multiple elevators together to optimize operations. It learns peak passenger times and floorbyfloor call patterns so that elevators can be positioned in advance, focusing on reducing waiting times. Preventing breakdowns and enabling rapid repairs are also seen as important changes. Hyundai Elevator operates a service that analyzes operating history and failure data to notify technicians in advance of parts with problems, and it said this has reduced downtime by up to 43%. Otis provides an IoTbased maintenance service using remote monitoring and alarm functions. Installation methods are also changing. Hyundai Elevator has commercialized ‘Inoblock,’ a modular construction method that premanufactures most major components and assembles them on site, saying it can reduce installation time by up to 80%. However, the industry sees the importance of technological competition growing even more, as the new installation market remains sluggish due to the downturn in the construction economy.
